Gerald R. “Frenchie” French, age 81 died November 17, 2015. He was born March 30, 1934 in Detroit, MI to Charles and Ora (Maze) French. Gerald retired from Mason Public Schools after 20 years. He was a resident of Mason for 32 years and an Army Veteran of the Korean conflict. Gerald loved farming, cutting wood, working outdoors and was a huge Spartan Fan. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Ken, Bill and Chuck French; 2 sisters, D. Maxine Howard and Virginia Glass; Step-son, John Harten; brother-in-law, Mike Johnson. Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Mary Lou (Diamond) French; step-children, Elizabeth (Steve) Oswald, Karen (Gary) Welton; step-daughter-in-law, Alissa (Alan) Pawlowski; 4 grandchildren, Kristin Welton, Shay Oswald, John Harten, and Alan Ryan Pawlowski; one brother, Larry (Teresa) French; 3 sisters, Barbara (John) Mulholland, Delores Johnson and B.J. Carlson; brother-in-law, Bill (Linda) Diamond; sister-in-law, Polly (John) Tulloch and numerous nephews and nieces. Memorial service will be held Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church of Mason, 131 E. Ash St., Mason, MI. The family will receive friends Friday, December 4, 2015 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the church. Those desiring may make contributions to Wounded Warriors Project.
