Jack C. Garner, 92, of Dansville, died September 10, 2016. Born Clyde Russell Zanger in Marshall, Michigan on April 27, 1924. Son of George and Alma Zanger, and adopted by William and Genevieve Garner in 1927. The Garners moved from Jackson to a farm on Parman Rd in Bunkerhill Township in 1935. Except for a brief period in the 1950s, Jack lived on the farm the rest of his life. In 1954, he married Leola Page of Holt. Together they had sons Alan and Roger. Although Jack worked for Oliver Corp. and later Chrysler Corp., he was a farmer at heart and was most proud of his partnership with son Alan in Garner Farms. In midlife, he was reunited with his Zanger family brothers and sisters, and they became an extremely important part of his life. Jack and Leola were active church members throughout their lives together. Jack is survived by his wife, Leola, of Dansville, son, Alan, of Lansing, and son, Roger of Sanford.
A memorial service will be announced in the coming weeks.
For those desiring, memorial contributions may be made in Jack’s honor to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews, 30 North LaSalle St., Suite 4300, Chicago, IL 60602-2584.
The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Ball Dunn Chapel. Online condolences may be expressed at www.grbdmason.com.
