

He was born on April 28, 1936 in Detroit, the son of Frank and Grace Rubino, Sr. Joe served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He married Marlene Barto in 1964 and together they owned and operated Rubino’s Refrigeration and All Star Heating & A/C for 43 years retiring in 2008. He was a member of the Refrigeration Engineers Society.
Joseph devoted many years to his Veteran organizations. He was a member of the American Legion, Lyle Edwards Post #491 Leslie, MI. Joseph served the American Legion, Department of Michigan, as State Assistant Sergeant-At-Arms from 1995-1999 and was elected State Sergeant-At-Arms from 2000-2002. Joseph was elected Committeeman for the 6th District Association, American Legion in 1992. He is a Voyageur with La Societe Des 40 Hommes ET 8, Voiture Locale #946, Lansing, MI and a life member with the VFW Post#7309, Mason. Joe was also a member with the USS Rich Association.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Marlene, Reed City; sons, Todd (Jennifer) Rubino Holt, MI, Shawn Rubino, Mason, MI and Carey (Jennifer) Rubino, Mason, MI; grandsons, Dylan Rubino, Mason, MI and Andrew Fast, Jackson, MI; granddaughter, DeAnne Fast, Jackson, MI; great-grandson, Cainan Fast, Holt, MI; brother, Tomas (Sue) Rubino, Grand Ledge, MI; sister, Rosemary Pouzar (Carl) Karline; sister-in-law, Sally Rubino, Lansing, MI; brother-in-laws, Mitchell Barto, Kalamazoo, MI and Donald Baker, CA; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Grace Rubino, Sr., Lansing, MI; brother, Frank Rubino, Lansing, MI and sister-in-law, Beverly (Frank) Baker, CA.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman, Ball Dunn Chapel, 621 S. Jefferson St., Mason, MI. A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with a one hour prior visitation on December 20, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Josh Baker from Believers Christian Church, Eagle, MI officiating. Following this, committal service and military honors will be held at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, 2400 Bennett Rd., Okemos, MI. Guests are invited to join in a fellowship meal at the Forty ET Eight Chateau at 2949 S Waverly Hwy in Lansing following services.
