Judy, I never got to meet you, or know you...I have herd so many great stories about you, and the wonderful love you and your husband Jack shared for eachother. Wow!  That was a long time ago.  I remember you were always  singing that.  You thought you were really "cool" (and you were) because there was a song named after you.  No one ever would have dared call you Judy!
I met Jude as a result of my brother Dennis.  Dennis and Jude hung out together and eventually became engaged. Unfortunately it didn't last but I still got to keep her as a friend.  We became best friends and were inseparable.  Over time we had young families and were always hanging out together.  We made a deal.  She supplied the pool and I supplied the food.  It was a pretty great trade off!!  
Jude was a great mom.  She loved her kids with a passion as well as any other kids.  She became a second mom to mine.  We always had so much fun together!!  
Over the years we got busy with careers and time just got away from us.  we would see each other occasionally but as we all know life gets in the way.
I believe people are put in our lives at times when we both need each other. I believe that was how our friendship was.  
We ran into each other a couple years ago and made plans to get together and catch up. Unfortunately that never happened.

Since you've left, I haven't gone a single day without missing you. I don't think I ever will. I constantly seem to crave your contagious laugh, your warm Nana hugs, and your voice telling me that everything's going to be okay. I wish you could be here to watch me grow up and say that you're proud of me this journey isn't nearly as exciting as it would be if you were on it with me. No matter what, you'll always be my hero, my best friend, and my favorite person in the whole world. I'd give up anything just to see you look at me with those big brown eyes one more time. In my mind, I always replay the last time you let me see them and my heart breaks every time. Everyone and everything seems to be so broken with you gone. You were just one of those people that could honestly make anyone's day so much better by doing almost nothing, and I've never met anyone else who can do that as well as you. I know you were in pain and I'm so sorry that you had to go through it. Why didn't you tell anyone? It's okay to be a little selfish sometimes- that's what you've always told us. I'm trying not to hurt, and I'm trying to tell myself that you're in a better place and that you're happier, but nothing seems to help. The fact that it's been this long since you left absolutely blows my mind. I wish you were here to pi-me-me during a scary movie and oompa oompa me in the pool one last time.

Hey Nana, just wanted to stop in and say hi. You already know I miss you, because we talk nearly every day. It has taken me a full year to find the words that describe my feelings. I have never been so angry, sad, uncomfortable, and relieved in my entire life. I was angry with God for taking you so soon, I was sad to have lost you, I was uncomfortable in my life without you here. And yet, I feel relief knowing that you are with God, Uncle D, Aunt Jo, and so many more loved ones that we have lost in our lives. I am now HAPPY knowing that you are watching over me, guiding me through my life, knowing that I will see you again someday.
You were many things to me, other than just my nana. You were my rock, my comfort, and easily one of my best friends. I cherish the 20 years that I was able to spend with you, and I truly dread the years to come without you by my side.
I graduated from college this year and it made me feel at ease that you were there with meI could feel your presence as they called my name and I walked up to get my diploma. I was proud of myself because I knew that YOU were proud of me. I thank you for that.
I also thank you for always being there for me, for my family, and for the people you treated like family. You were absolutely the glue that held us together at times, and I will never be able to thank you enough for the countless sleepovers, ice cream trips to big boy, and soaking up the sun with you nearly EVERY weekend at the pool. There are so many memories that are etched into my mind for the rest of time. 
The best memory of you? Your beautiful smile and contagious laugh that lit up the room day in and day out. Well, most days at least! (We ALL know that Nana had some cranky days. HAHA!) I will forever remember your voice when singing You are my sunshine, or Hey Jude!'. And I will forever consider I hope you dance to be our song.  I'm dancing for you, Nana, and I hope I make you proud.

Jude....so the last time we saw each other still sticks in my mind because, at the end, as always you said "give my girl a hug and kiss for me" and I said "I'll give her more than that..." and you said (insert rude remark here).  And then we parted ways like we had done many, many times over the almost 20 years that we had known each other.  And we both knew we meant the same thing no matter who was supplying the rude remarks...we were saying "love you" and "love you too".  

Of course the girl you mentioned in your remark above was my wife Laura...or as you liked to say when you saw me "How's Laaaaaaaura?" And you knew her before she was my wife, when we all worked together on the adolescent psych unit.  And when ever told Laura I had seen you she would squeal "Juuuuuuuuuude!" (Yes, squeal is the most accurate word to describe it.) So, even though you didn't see Laura too much over the years after you stopped working together I had the privilege of serving as a conduit for your caring for each other.

You and I saw a good deal of each other, sometimes a lot (like when we worked together on the APU or much later, on the substance abuse unit), and sometimes just a little.  But there was always a connection and a knowing that we were there for each other, and that there would always be room for laughter....no matter what.  We had a good string of laughter when you allowed me to take your picture (what were you thinking?!) and I proceeded to photoshop it into a variety of photos....among them, and possibly my favorite, is when I photoshopped it onto a woman standing next to Paul McCartney that the tabloids indicated had caused him to break up with Heather Mills....(I know, you're thinking..."if only").

Final thought, a couple months ago right before Christmas I came to tears in the Meridian Mall when I realized that right before Christmas 2014 I was in the same store and heard my name called out...looked around...heard my name called out....looked around...and finally saw you hiding behind a clothing display as you were out shopping with your granddaughter.  Miss you Jude.

Judy's Memorial

I can honestly say 2015 was one of my worst years, right along side of 1967 and 1968 of my 71 years. Dealing with depression and sorrow, I carried around a lot of anger. I know in my heart I was wrong, but part of me was mad at God for taking my sister. Nine years her senior, it didn't seem fair for her to go before me.

Just recently I made peace with my Maker and I know He has His reasons and we as mortals should not question or doubt them. And whoever said "life is not fair" was right on!

As bad as it was, I did want to commemorate my sister's life in my own way. Even though I was angered, I always and still do thank God for blessing me with a sister so beautiful in so many ways.

In her memory I put together (in our backyard) a bluebird house on a eight foot post, standing in the middle of a wine barrel flower pot. On May 11, 2015 I planted two clematis plants, one on each side of the post. The clematis plants are a perennial climbing vine that produces large deep purple flowers from June to September. I thought this memorial was most fitting for Judy. She had a love for birds, flowers, wine and warm summer days. Every spring the clematis will thicken with more flowers growing up to twelve feet tall as if reaching for heaven. From our deck, Diane and I will be looking forward to watching the bluebirds come and go.

If any of my neighbors or guest inquire or have a comment regarding the bird house etc., I will be more than happy to talk about my sister. I am very proud of her!

I will always remember the goodness she stood for and the fun (good times!) we had. We cried, we laughed, it was all good! Just reviewing this Guest Book is a testament to that. If you were to ask me what I miss the most about Jude, I don't know where to start. She was caring, generous, loyal, honest, supportive, funny, a loving sister and beautiful woman. The list goes on and on!

Right now I miss our long telephone talks. She was such a good listener and she gave good advice and/or feedback. She was very smart. I miss hearing her laughter. Sometimes we made each other laugh so hard we couldn't talk for several minutes. I remember one time she was laughing so hard she said to me "Bro you got to stop before I have an accident. I need to go to the ladies room."  and then she came back ten minutes later still laughing! What a hoot!!

Today I am very happy and content for Judy. She is now with the Lord and probably making Him laugh just as she did for me. And that's not a bad place to be.

I miss and love you Jude. You are always in my heart and will never be forgotten.

Well Judy, it has been a year since our world fell apart. It was not supposed to be this way. You always told me you were going to out live me by many many years. I was just fine with that. I really never wanted to know life without you. After sharing life with you for over 34 years and 1 year without you, I would trade places in a heart beat.

For a good portion of this past year, I have been suffering from Survivors Guilt. After all of my accidents and illnesses you have seen me through, I just could not understand why I was here, especially after my 3 cardiac ordeals within 6 months a couple of years back. Why were you gone and I was not. But during this past year I witnessed several things happen that would have hurt you terribly. These were issues that you had told me about concerning your unit that were now happening. Your people at your unit did their best. But in the end they were not you. These issues, whether you could have overrode them is for the unknown. However these issues would have been so hard on you. I found myself thinking and saying, Thank-God Judy does not have to deal with all these problems. After several times of seeing things that would have been so painful for you, I heard your voice as clear as though you were standing in front of me saying: Get Over It, This Is NOT About You. Even though your passing has had and will have a tremendous effect on me for the rest of my days. This whole situation was about you. I truly feel that God put his hand on your shoulder and told you , you have done enough. It was time to come Home and to be at peace with your Heavenly people and Dogs. Stephanie and I have discussed this and now we find comfort in knowing that you are in a far better place.

I have now accomplished something you always wanted me to do. After all these years of being Bompa, the guy who lives with NANA. Maddy and I have developed a relationship that is on par with Gabby and Allie. Maddy now stays with me when Doug and Stephanie have a night out or their weekend. We have quite a great time just doing regular things like going to a movie , washing a car, or shopping. She was actually my Rock Star at Christmas. She helped with all the shopping I had to do and wrapped 75% of my packages, except for hers, I did those. Yes, she was very well compensated for her support. Stephanie, Doug, Gabby, and Allie all were great help with everything. Stephanie, and Doug are tremendous support for me and we do a lot together.

We all see and hear your signs. I took Allie and Maddy to the Toledo Zoo this past August. As we were buying our tickets, your Paul McCartney came over the radio singing 1 of your favorites. We all just looked at each other smiled and said NANA.

We all know that life must go on and how you would want everyone to do and be well, and we are, even though not having you with us is extremely hard, but we are OK. I, myself, I guess I am doing OK, but after being graced with sharing life with you for 34 years , OK just doesn't cut it, I miss you terribly . I haven't held your hand, looked into your beautiful brown eyes, nor have I been graced with the sweet sound of your singing. Now our car just has a radio. In my heart, I see you, hear you, Your in my dreams. I have awaken many a night thinking you needed me. But I know where you are and you can't come back in person. But know this, for Now, Tomorrow, Forever, You will always be my Brown Eyed Girl!!

                                             "Buckshot"

For those readers who never saw or met "Buckshot" let me introduce you. He is a cute little dog; stands about two feet tall when standing on his rear haunches, grayish in color, big floppy ears, a huge mustache that covers his mouth and has a very intense stare with a hard (steel bearings) look in his eyes, as if to say "don't mess with me"! No one knows for sure, but they think he is a crossbreed between a hound dog and a junk yard bulldog, tough as nails. And I literally mean that because he was designed and welded from scrap metal by a blacksmith artist. Oh! Did I mention he is holding a shotgun in the ready position? He has a rough guard dog appearance, but still cute!

Diane, my wife, and I (Doug, Judy's youngest brother of four - nine years her senior) saw Buckshot at a craft fair close to our home in Pennsylvania. It was mid summer several years ago when Jack and Judy were without a dog. When we laid eyes on him we both smiled and thought he would be a cute little guy for J and J to have until they decide on another dog which was a Lhasa Apso puppy they named "Holly"

On the way home that night from the craft fair I thought rather than just offer him as a gift at our next family reunion coming up in six weeks ( Labor Day) at their house, I would instead have a little fun presenting him.

Now, to better understand where this story is going, you should know Judy and Jack are serious dog lovers. That means THEY and nobody else will decide on their next dog. It's for sure it will be a Lhasa Apso puppy with defining marks/colors and have that special look that only J and J will know that's the one!

So moving on: every time Judy and I spoke on the phone prior to the reunion, I brought up the question "When are you getting another dog?" and I planted in her mind I felt a rescue dog from a shelter was the best way to go.

                                   Labor Day Weekend

Judy's house sits on a acre lot with a long driveway running up the left side. The garage faces their neighbor's house. On the other side there is a patio with a roof and one step up is a large wooden deck.

We arrived Sunday late morning. About a third of the guests were there gathered on the deck. They didn't see us pull in (which I hoped for) so as planned we walked past the front and greeted everyone on the deck. After about ten minutes of hugs and kisses I abruptly stopped (like I forgot something) and told Judy we have a gift for the both of you. I said "I need to get it out of the car right away. It is to hot to stay there." I turned towards the front, took five or six steps and suddenly I stopped again, looked toward them stating "Keep in mind if you don't like it, the people said they will let me return it. And you have the next five days to decide!" I asked them to stay on the deck while I bring HIM around. I headed for the car hastily so not to give them a chance to ask any questions. After I was out of view I took my sweet time so they could dwell on what I said "bring HIM around".

I think soon after I disappeared, Judy figured out what the mystery gift was and Jack and she wasn't going to be all that happy about it. A rescue dog -- no way! Doug would not do that -- would he?

I stood Buckshot up on the sidewalk in front of the door, facing the patio and proceeded to get J and J. As I walked around the corner towards them I was shaking my left hand pretending not to let them see that I just got hurt somehow or worse just got bitten. By now they were to anxious to care. I continued to prolong their wait to see their mystery gift. I reminded them " If you don't like him I can return him to the original owner." Well that did it! Jack started to whisper in Judy's ear. I heard "What did your brother do?" By now Judy had a look almost indescribable. She had a fake smile, fear and anger in her eyes. Her mouth was quivering as if she wanted to say something but held it in. Jack had that look as if someone just ran their car into the side of his. Just imagining what they were thinking and/or feeling at that moment was hilarious. I wish I took a picture. I couldn't hold my laughter inside any longer so I brought them around to the front and said "Let me introduce you to your new guard dog Mr. Buckshot."

They were to relieved to be mad and we all had a great laugh. When I think about her smile and laughter that day it makes me want to cry and laugh at the same time.

As the seasons changed Judy would dress Buckshot up in different costumes and send Diane and me pictures. He was part of her family and I am very happy for that.

That was just one of many beautiful memories I have of my sister Judy whom I miss and love so much.

It has been nearly a year since Jude so sadly left us. So many times I've longed to talk to her. We used to talk, laugh, and cry about everything under the stars. We shared countless laughs and tears over our 50 year friendship. 

We all know that life goes on, with many things constantly changing, but a few things like my love, respect, and admiration for my dear friend Jude remain constant  never changing.

Hi Nana. Its been a hard year without you- but somehow we have made it through. When you were with us, I didn't have the chance to say thank you. So thank you for cedar point, all the sleepovers, all of the diaries and books, all of the candy, all of the food, and all of your comfort. I hope your having fun hanging out with Uncle Don, Summer, and many other loved ones. Love you more Nana.

Hey mom. Well, it has taken me a year and I still can't find the words to really say how I feel. We talk everyday so you know how I feel. You know my anger, sadness, guilt and regrets. I really, really miss you mom. This year has been so lonely and quiet since you've been gone. Every event, every holiday, every family dinner have not been the same without your grandiose personality.  You made everything better, everything more fun.

Mostly Mama I want to thank you for being really such an amazing person. I am beyond blessed that you were mine. You always fought for us.  You were always so supportive, kind, loving and giving. The best mom and Nana we could ask for. This year I learned a lot about you. Things I didn't see or know about you before and it made me very proud of you. The person you were and the accomplishments you achieved. There is a reason so many people loved you and flocked to you. 

I am so happy that you are happy and healthy up there with all of your people you missed. I try to imagine you seeing Grandma and Grandpa and Uncle Don. That brings me happiness and peace for you.

Thank you for all the notes you wrote inside of the books and cards you gave me. I often find little messages from you around the house. I love it when I see your handwriting on something.  Thank you for taking the time to do that for me. They are my most prized possessions.

What do I miss most about you? Hands down that laugh Lady! We laughed so hard! I miss our pool days of just sitting and laughing all day. Best times ever.  I miss the dirty looks we would get at the choir concerts and plays because we were laughing so hard and way too loud. You were the coolest Mom and Nana. Ask any of my friends or the girls friends.

Dad told me in the hospital that you told him that you were worried about me when you passed. Of course you'd worry about me! Geez lady! Well you'd be proud to hear that I found strength in myself that I didn't even know I possessed. No doubt, something else great you passed down to me. 
I still can't believe it has been a year without you.

Sister Jude It was gift to work with you for 10 years and knowing you for many more. I admired your addiction nursing skills along with the autonomy you gave me as a psych tech to teach 12 step recovery principles. I was awed by your patience with hospital management who didnt have a clue on what we were trying to accomplish. You never drifted from putting the needs of patients first. You were the one they went to teach new nurses, nursing students from MSU Owosso and LCC and for the most part new physicians to the unit. The number of patients you steered into lives of recovery is unparalleled. You are dearly missed!  Brother Andy

My dearest Jude,  it's been almost a year now since a part of my heart was lost forever. It was your part Jude. The part that brought the joys and love of a best friend. My memories still linger of our trips to Shipshawana, sharing our birthdays. As I put our Christmas tree up this year your memory came flooding back as I hung every Christmas ornament you ever gave me. I always knew you loved me but at my retirement party at work you stood up and told everyone how proud you were of me and what I had done for the patients at St. Lawrence.  I was so moved that you were proud of me.  I remember our last birthday dinner and drinks just a few weeks before we said goodbye. We laughed and told each other we loved the other one. How I wish I could talk with you again. My shoulder to lean on is gone but never forgotten. I love you Jude.

Jude It's hard to believe it's been almost a year since the last time I saw you. We were working on a Friday. It was the last Friday in January. We had lunch with Carmen and we talked about seeing each other again the next Monday. There was a bad snow storm. Carmen & I didn't make it in. The next time we were going to work together was Tuesday...
 I miss you a lot. You were a wonderful nurse and such a great person. That goes unsaid.
 I still remember the first time we meant. You were working on the Adolescent unit and I was working in Substance Abuse. I had Lhasa puppies for sale. You introduced your self and ask about our puppies. Over the years you bought 3 puppies from us. It was after that first meeting that we became friends. 
I was always amazed how you knew things were going to happen before they did. We talked about this a lot and we would joke about it. Honestly, I have to say it was always a little eerie. 
Thanks for your advice on different life situations. You always gave good feedback and advice. Sometimes it was hard to hear what you had to say.
We always enjoyed talking about TV shows and movies. We laughed at Saturday Night Live skits, different shows and I couldn't wait to get your opinion on the movies we saw.
Your love for music was always enjoyable. You always made me laugh when you imitated Cher. You were so good at it too. I remember you being excited about going to see Paul McCartney, Rod Stewart, Billy Squier and many more. One of the most fun memories I had was when my daughter was about to graduate from high school. I took her to get her nails done. I noticed on the table in the salon there was a copy of Rolling Stone Magazine. On the cover was the pope. I started laughing out loud (people were starring). I thought to myself Jude would appreciate this. So the next time we worked together. I ask you why the pope was on the cover and you said "because he's a rock n roll" kind of pope! We laughed  till we cried.

After working with Jude for 25 years side by side I have too many memories to mention.  Favorites included my very generous (but pitifully flawed) attempts to desensitize her from rodent phobia.  Multiple cartoons to try to pair humor with mice were actually not well received.  But we both got many laughs from it.  Laughs might be what I miss most.  Jude had a way to make work fun even though we worked in a very serious business that had many painful realities.  Her spirituality was big too.  She is still in my prayers and I think of her now as a Guardian Angel.   Steve Cottrell

Jude, our birthdays have passed without you. I gathered all the wonderful gifts you have given me over many years and reflected on when and how you gave them to me. I laughed and I cried. They all hold a special place in my home. Some are out for me to enjoy everyday and some I see at Christmas time and they hang on my tree year after year. I think of you so often and miss talking to you. I miss your expert advice on family, job, life. Merry Christmas sweetheart!  Give um hell.

My Little Sister,

You know they say "When you lose someone dear to your heart time will heal your sorrow". That is not true for all. There's not a day that goes by without Judy in my thoughts several times. Sometimes I burst into laughter recalling a funny moment or a conversation we had over the phone and then a tear would surely follow down the side of my face. I miss her so! I know my brother John knows what I am talking about. His wife MJ was the love of his life. And you know those people that do recover sooner with time from their grief doesn't mean they loved that person any less. It just shows we all have a different makeup.

The last conversation we had over the phone, a week before she passed, I told Jude how proud I was of her, especially her work at the hospital. And how my little sister grew up to be a beautiful woman inside and out. I told her she was my hero! When I think back, about what we spoke of and how we flattered each other and shared our feelings for each other, it was as if God allowed us to say our goodbyes and we did not know it.

Judy was full of life and fun to be with. She loved a good joke and there was never a dull moment between us. God blessed me with two soul mates, Jude and my wife Diane. Their personalities were very much the same. They both were hippies at one time, they still loved the same music and they had so much in common in everything they did, including their outlook of life. They both became good sisters for each other. Both were my main support group when my PTSD issues got me down.

Judy, if somehow spiritually you can hear me or read this I want you to know when you left this world you took a big part of me (my dreams, my love of life, everything we shared) with you and I am having a hell of a hard time dealing with it. I miss you Babe and I miss hearing my little sister saying "What's up Bro?".



Dear Judy,

I feel as if I am writing this to you, as if you will be reading it, remembering some of the wonderful times we have spent together over the past many years. So many images flood my memory that it is difficult to know which to select. I miss you terribly and think about calling you every day, "Dancing with the Stars" is not the fun it used to be when you and I would discuss it. And, I am sorry you missed the ending of "Revenge", but I am happy it is over because I needed you to help me unravel the plot! 

Summer is gone now, as are the days we would sit by your pool for hours playing backgammon, rolling the dice, laughing,drinking our iced tea, laughing, cursing at which ever one of us got the advantage over the other, and laughing some more. The sun would beat down on us, but we would only take a dip when we could no longer stand the heat of the sun.

I can clearly see you, on a summer day, slapping down the slices of bread along the edge of the kitchen counter, making bologna sandwiches, or maybe peanut butter, for all of the kids: yours, mine, and the kids you baby sat for. You had the round pool then, underneath the mulberry tree. We never stopped laughing. I have pictures of the both of us then. We were skinny! 

We roamed through antique shops almost every time I came up. I loved going to Shipshawana to spend the day at the flea market. Sometimes we would spend the day on the shore of Lake Michigan.

I think I could go on forever with my memories. You have been such an important part of my life. I love you and miss you. Sally

I think of Jude often.  I just saw that Paul McCartney is going to be in Detroit and it made me think of Jude and how she loved him!  She had a zest for life, and the world is a lesser place without her in it. She is missed.

It was over the fence that we shared our lives. I served her daiquiris  while she cleaned her pool. Our families shared fireworks, Halloween treats. There were cookouts, birthdays, graduations, weddings, and babies. We shared kitchen fires, burnt offerings, break ins and sewers! Total laughter at the foolishness and tears at the stupidity of it all. Love her always. In my heart forever.

I have come to believe that of the many ways a person can define the depth of friendship, Jude has helped define mine. A friend is someone you have laughed unabashedly with, been angry and healed, and shed tears together. Jude, we have laughed til we cried, been mad and reconciled, and wept together. Our family was blessed with Judes soul. Her energy, generosity and love bonded our family. She will be missed and remembered.

It's been 6 months now Jude. I have thought about you almost everyday since we said goodbye. I miss you so much. I've caught myself thinking about calling you to go to Shipshawana, then I remember. You can't.  I hope you've won at gambling and I know you're making so many new friends that we couldn't count them. I love you girl!

For some reason. my entry, which I wrote weeks ago, did not appear among the beautiful and moving entries I have just read. 
 Judy was my niece, the daughter of Ruth, one of my sisters.  I baby sat for her when she was newly born.  Her four brothers were wild about her, but I must say, her brother Doug instantly fell in love with her.  That special relationship never waned.  They were soul mates.
I have enjoyed with my deepest caring the relationship that developed between Judy and myself in the past several years.   Judy is a precious, caring person whose personality (those wonderful qualities described in very nearly every entry) was developed by the deep and caring love received from both parents, the nurturing received from siblings and friends during her adolescence,  and the strength and fortitude she had within her from birth.
I so enjoyed her.  We laughed, we cried, we worried, we commiserated,  That she is gone from my life breaks my heart.  I send my love and strength to Jack;to Stephanie, Rachel, and Michael; to Gabbie, Allie, Maddy, and Walter.  She was special.

Honey, As you look down from Heaven, I know you see one very sad man and one very sad dog. We both miss you so very much, it just hurts.I can't believe this has happened. We really have had a wonderful life together. This last year has been especially filled with so many fantastic moments, one right after another. Happiness was overflowing right up to our last night as we turned in for the evening. Then our world fell apart. While you were in intensive care,I keep feeling like we were in a movie,  it was all so surreal.It was overwhelming to see how so many people came running to be by your side, just to have one more moment with you.You were so absolutely wonderful, living with you, laughing with you, and loving you has made my life so very full. I just feel empty without you. My heart is broken, only this time no surgeon can fix it.The much better half of me is just gone. I now know how Aunt Ruth felt when she asked Uncle Lowell after he had passed. Why didn't you take me with you ?

My heart is empty. How I wish I could turn back time. I will cherish my memories of Jude and will never ever forget her.  She was the most amazing woman I have ever met. I love you Jude!

To Jude's family- I never really worked with Jude but had regular contact on the Sub Abuse  Unit and we always joked or kidded each other and cherish the memories.  She was always helpful and cheerful.  Remember the good memories they will help you as your greve.  Steve Munkvold

I worked with Jude on the Sparrow Hospital Substance abuse unit for 2 & 1/2 years and will miss her presence,humor, and kindness! Jude was a wonderful lady, great nurse, very caring and sweet soul.  I'll miss working with her on weekends, talking about movies, news, her family and life.  Jude thanks for being you and touching & enriching so many lives! Love you a bunch

I didn't know Jude but for 1 1/2 yr. In that time, I was very impressed with her knowledge and professionalism. She embodied everything we represent on our unit, quality care and compassion. My last memory of her will be the day before she got sick, we were cracking jokes and laughing in report. What a difference a day makes. She took a piece of this unit with her and will be truly missed! RIP Jude!!!

Jack, Stephanie, Rachel and Michael - My heart breaks for the sadness you all feel.  I have so many wonderful memories of Judy.  She was the funnest Mom of all our friends. Her spirit lives on and Heaven has the brightest star.

I know Jude would get a kick out of seeing two posts from me, didn't think it went through the first time :).

It's been a long time since I've worked with Jude but she had this great balance of compassion, sense of humor, good judgement and down to business seriousness.  She was always a role model to me in my career and someone I never forgot. She was a friend that you didn't see for years and then when you did, nothing had changed. My heart goes out to Jude's family, friends and her coworkers of Sparrow/St. Lawrence.  May you find comfort in what a loving, hard working, fun woman she was.

It has been a long time since I have worked with Jude but she was one of the special people I had the privilege to work with that had such a balance of compassion, sense of humor, good judgement and down to business, seriousness. She was a friend and role model to me in my career. A well loved woman who lived a wonderful life. My heart goes out to her family, friends and coworkers at Sparrow/St. Lawrence.

To the family of Jude, it is with great sorry and sadness I heard today of her passing.  I work on Substance Abuse every few weeks for groups and I fell at work 2 weeks ago.  Jude in her great compassionate fashion got me some ice and helped to get my leg up for awhile when I did group.  She was a wonderful nurse, caring person, and always had a smile for me each day.  My sympathy to each of you as you truly miss a truly great person and loving mother, wife, grandmother and friend to each of you.  May God comfort each of your hurts as time goes on. Jude was a terrific and fun loving person.  There was always laugher when she was in a room.  Something special "nana" would do for my own children was that she always had a special Halloween treat on Halloween night.  She will be missed!

So so so sorry to hear we lost Jude. She came into my life at a time of great change and reorganization. Her counsel and good natured advice spoke to a soul that was meant to help others. She was a friend, second mom, advocate, professional mentor (one of the best psych nurses out there!), among the funniest people I have had the pleasure to know and just an amazing human being. Gone to soon but a life lived to the fullest - I'm a better person to have known her.

To the family of Jude Shaver, I've not known Jude for very long , but in a short span of time I found her to be warm caring and loveable.  My prayer is that God wil comfort you and and grant you the grace to deal with this loss. Jude's smile and kindness will always be memorie that I will cherish.

Jude was definitely an amazing person and nurse with a wealth of knowledge and crazy sense of humor. She would always make me laugh early in the mornings and I looked up to her as a professional that I aspired to be. Jude you will be missed every single day. Jude, after working side by side with you for over 23 years, one of your many teasing phrases was "have we worked together too long?" Of course the answer was always "Not long enough".  I'm sure I'll never work with anyone with such a heart of gold.  Many, many, wonderful memories.
