Age 10 is resting with the Lord on Friday, May 6, 2011. He was born on December 2, 2000 in Lansing to Birhanemeskel and Tina (Dubay) Mekuria their first born miracle boy. He enjoyed C.H.U.M. horse therapy, going outside having the sunshine on him, watching the tree outside his window, swimming and just being in nature. He loved his brothers and sister, Elmo, watching Wheel of Fortune, his cat and car rides. Keya always had a smile that would light up the room no matter how he may be feeling. He is survived by his loving family: his parents, Birhanemeskel and Tina; 2 brothers, Kedus and Kaleab; sister, Leyat; grandparents, Ron and Diana Soule and Mekuria Asfaw; great grandmother, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends. Keya was preceded in death by his grandmother, Zenebework Seyoum and grandfather, Tom Dubay. A service of Celebration and Victory in Christ will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 9, 2011 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 2418 N. Aurelius Rd., Holt with Pastor Dean Poellet officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery, Mason. The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday with a Trisagion Prayer service at 7:30 p.m. and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 621 S. Jefferson St., Mason and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. The family wishes to thank Keya’s godparents and all of the caregivers, doctors, nurses, therapist and teachers for the love and care they gave to him. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to: C.H.U.M., P.O. Box 14, Mason, MI 48854 or to the United Cerebal Palsy, in memory of Keya.
