Larry John Swan

Born December 24, 1941, the son of the late Morris and Beulah (Willett) Swan, passed away October 12, 2013 at the age of 71. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Donald L. Hayhoe, father and mother-in-law, Angus and Edna Cooper. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Cooper) Swan; son, Philip R. Swan from Idaho; brother Stanley H. (Brenda) Swan from Leslie, MI; sisters, Elaine (J.R.) Carson from Kalamazoo, Betty (James) McCormick from Lansing, MI, Sharon K. (Roger) Anthony from Dimondale, Barbara (Roger) Harris from Eaton Rapids; sister-in-laws, Sandra (Phillip) Lamb from Dansville, Karen Freshney from Vestaburg; aunts, Donna Moore from St. Johns, and Viola Swan from Dansville, MI; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Larry and his beloved wife Marilyn were married April 7, 1973. He worked for Ingham County Road Commission from 1960 – 1965, and retired from General Motors after 30 years of service, working from 1965 – 1995. Larry also farmed for over 40 years. His passion was soybean farming and he loved country music.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, Ball Dunn Chapel, 621 S. Jefferson, Mason, MI with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Leslie, MI. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at the Ball Dunn Chapel from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make contributions to the American Cancer Society, 1755 Abbey Road, East Lansing, MI 48823 in honor of Larry.
