

Ronald J. Ballard of Mason passed away at home on Tuesday, October 18th, 2022 at the age of 81. He was born on June 4th,1941 to his parents Robert and Beatrice (Otis) Ballard. Ronald graduated from Mason High School in 1960. Ron met his sweetheart L Kathleen Hasbrook, and they were married on August 28,1965. They had two children, Ronald II, and Laurie, and shared a life full of love and adventure.
Ronald was always a hard worker. He owned the Shell Gas Station in downtown Mason in the 60’s before moving on to become a Master Electrician with the IBEW. He retired proudly from General Motors after serving as an electrician there for many years. Outside of work, Ron was an active member of the Mason Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was a compassionate man who found joy in providing support to his community and touched so many lives in his service to Jehovah.
In his free time, Ronald was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and tending to his property. He also enjoyed restoring vintage cars. His favorite projects being his 1970 1/2 Chevy Camero Z/28, and in retirement working on a 1956 Chevy pickup truck. Ronald built the homes he lived in. He was a loyal husband and proud father, dedicated to building the best life he could for his family.
The fondest memories most have of him involve family dinners where he would cook for everyone, let the grandkids stay up late, and filled the house full of love and laughter.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Kathy (Hasbook) Ballard, his son, Ronald Ballard II, his daughter, Laurie (Todd) Brandt; grandchildren, Kyle Ballard, Sean (Kayla) Ballard, Chelsi (Richard) Watson, Evann (Rob) McUmber, and Haylee (Duanne) Silver; great-grandchildren, Arya Ballard, Roland Ballard, Keegan Ballard, and Emma Watson. Preceding him in death were his parents and his brothers Phillip E. Ballard and Lonnie O. Ballard.
Memorial services will be held in person at 1:00pm on November 5, 2022 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 1175 College Rd in Mason, MI 48854.
