Holt, MI
Ron was born on groundhog day, February 2, 1951, age 63, died December 25, 2014 on Christmas morning from the ravages of end stage renal disease. It was Ron's way of ensuring his friends and family will always remember him on these dates. He was fiercely independent in spite of his suffering. Ron survived on one kidney transplant for 22 years, a remarkable feat, and then became totally dependent on dialysis for the last 2 remaining years of his life awaiting another transplant.
Ron grew up and graduated from high school in Mason, MI. He was a truck driver for over 30 years, a profession he really enjoyed. Although he liked playing the old curmudgeon, he was a softie at heart with a quick wit. He will be missed and especially by those who knew him the best. As a youngster he was quite active in the boy scouts and later hunting, fishing, campfires and TV sports.
He is survived by his father, Donald Robison; 2 sisters, Judy Robison and Liz Vandecar; his best friends Don and Maggie Bateman; Bob Shaw and the extended Kosht family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Reva (Jensen); Robison 2 sisters, Connie Wigman and Gloria Jean Jensen. Ron, most likely, is sitting with his Mom and sisters catching them up on the earthly events from his point of view. That's what made him so memorable, that is, his version.
Visitation will be at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home Mason Chapel, 621 South Jefferson Street, Mason, MI on Monday, December 29, 2014, 4 to 7 pm. A graveside service will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery, 1939 S. Aurelius Rd., Mason, MI on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 2 pm followed by luncheon at the City Limits Bowling Alley, 801 N. Cedar St., Mason, MI 48854.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan, 1169 Oak Valley Drive, Ann Arbor, MI 48108.
