Stuart Besonen

Stuart was born to Arvid and Louisa (Buxton) Besonen in 1943. Stuart grew up in the Lansing area and graduated from Mason High School in 1961. He then went on to enlist in the U.S Navy as a Petty Officer, after honorably serving his country he became a mechanic for the City of Mason and married the love of his life, Ruth Ann (Wontor) on July 13, 1968. The two went on to have two daughters Lisa and Laura.

Stuart was always surrounded by women between his two sisters, his wife, and his two daughters. So as you can imagine he was overjoyed when he found out he was not only going to be a grandfather but that he would have 3 grandsons at that!

Stuart was the ultimate family man, he cared for his wife for 13 years in the time she was ill leading up to her death. For those who had the pleasure of knowing Stuart, they knew that he never met a person he couldn't talk to. He would go out in the Mason community and always ran into someone he knew, making his family think he knew everyone!

Some of Stuart's favorite things were bowling, axe throwing, and being a member of the Lansing Muzzleloading Gun Club, but his most favorite thing was being with his family and the community in which he lived in Mason.

Stuart is preceded in death by his wife; Ruth (Wontor) Besonen and parents; Arvid and Louisa (Buxton) Besonen.

Stuart is survived by his daughters; Lisa (Greg) Cooper and Laura (Eric Patrick) Curry, grandsons; Garrett Cooper, Logan Cooper, and Sean Curry, sisters; Janie (John) Austin and Pam (Vern) Elliott.

There will be a visitation to celebrate Stuart's life Friday, August 27th from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Mason Community Church - 1000 E. Columbia St Mason, MI 48854
