Cherie Mary Savage

Cherie Mary Savage, (née Neary) age 72, passed away on January 3, 2022. Beloved daughter of George and Charmaine (née Setzer) Neary; eldest of eight children, including the late Patrick Neary; niece of Mary Flath; loving mother of Theresa, Emily (Gregory), and Samantha; devoted grandmother to Gabrielle, Seth, Evelyn, Claire, and Juliet.

Cherie was born in 1949 in Dallas, Texas, and grew up in Akron, Ohio. She took part in raising her younger siblings until she left home to start her own family.

She loved traveling, family gatherings, and new adventures. Her dedication to her children and grandchildren was her strongest motivator. A natural caregiver, Cherie was patient, kind, and creative. She had a robust appetite for playing dress-up with her children and donning costumes to make people laugh. Cherie loved nothing more than being with her family, a warm summer’s day, and looking up at the moon at night. She was a humorous and radiant woman with a smile and laugh that endeared her to all.

At her bedside she kept an Irish blessing that reads: “God Grant you always, a Sunbeam to warm you, a Moonbeam to charm you, a Sheltering Angel so nothing can harm you.”

Cherie was and will always be the Sunbeam, the Moonbeam, and the Sheltering Angel in our hearts and she will be missed immensely.
