

Donna Marie Carney, 87, of Charleston, West Virginia, and Cleveland, Ohio, peacefully passed away on February 27, 2026. In her final days, she was surrounded by the deep love of her family, who came together to care for her as she bravely battled heart failure. She was never alone and was held in love until the very end.
Born on October 11, 1938, in Charleston, West Virginia, Donna was the cherished daughter of Evalyn Jeanetta Cruikshank and Oscar A. Carney. She built a life rooted in devotion to family, strength, and unwavering love. Her presence brought warmth, comfort, and reassurance to all who knew her.Donna shared 65 beautiful years of marriage with her beloved husband, Kenneth Cousins. Their union was a testament to enduring commitment, partnership, and deep love. Together, they created a legacy centered on faith, resilience, and family.She was a loving wife, devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and proud great-grandmother. Her family was her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. Donna gave selflessly, loved deeply, and nurtured generations with patience and grace. She opened her home to many in times of need and was always ready to help whenever she could.When she first moved to Ohio, Donna worked as a waitress before building a career in healthcare management. No matter her professional path, her heart and time were always devoted to her children and family. Donna found happiness in life’s simple pleasures. She loved country music, playing card games, making jewelry, nurturing plants, taking care of her many pet companions, and creating arts and crafts with her grandchildren. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and her family will especially feel her absence during those treasured celebrations.She was preceded in death by her parents; her children, Wayne Carney and Donna Marie Custard; and others who welcomed her home. Donna’s Legacy Donna leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Kenneth Cousins; her children, Semone Renee Custard-Sumpter and Lovell John Custard; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Custard; her son-in-law, Cetric Sumpter; her grandchildren, Quiana Marie Custard, Le’Ceeonn Renee Custard, Dewayne Davis, and Lisa Marie Thomas; and her great grandchildren, Zharia Ware, MiAngel Davis, Samariana Lee Kellum, Gabriella Marie Ewell, Donna Malay Davis, Giuliana Maria Ewell, Jonathan Bill Ford, extended family and all who were blessed to know and love her.Though she is no longer physically with us, Donna’s love remains woven into the fabric of her family forever.
