

GEORGE E. NOVOTNEY, age 88, has joined his beloved wife, Betty, in eternal rest on April 10, 2011. He was born September 21, 1922 in Yukon, Pa. He was 55 year resident of Mayfield Village. George was a proud WW II Army Veteran and was a longtime member of VFW Post 775. He worked at McDowell-Wellman Engineering for 32 years and retired in 1986. George enjoyed gardening and was also an avid fisherman. He enjoyed both local fishing in Lake Erie and annual trips to Canada. In retirement he took up marquetry to create many pictures that adorn the walls of his home. He was the loving father of George (wife Veronica), Donald (wife Cathy), and Carol Buco (husband Stephen). He was the cherished grandfather of Pamela (husband Jeff) White, Christopher, Brittania, Catrina, Nicholas (US Air Force), Danielle Novotney (US Air Force), Stephanie and Russell Buco and great grandfather of Benjamin White. He is survived by brothers Bernard (wife Kathleen deceased), Edward (wife Loretta), John (wife Sylvia), Novotney and sisters Julie (husband Ken) Sohl, and Mary Ann (husband Mike) Knapick. He is preceded in death by his parents George and Julia (Alexander) Novotney and his youngest sister, Anna Mae (husband Joseph) Girgas. Uncle George will be also be missed by his many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer's Association. Mass of Christian Burial 10 A.M. Thursday April 14 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Interment All Souls Cemetery. The family will receive friends at THE DiCICCO AND SONS FUNERAL HOME 5975 MAYFIELD RD. MAYFIELD HTS.(at Lander Rd.) WEDNESDAY 2-4 AND 6-8 PM.
