Beloved wife of Stanley (deceased); adoring and adored mother of Wendy (Dave), Holly, Paul (Denise), John (Nancy) and Greg (Lynn); loving grandmother (Marnie) of Jodi, Taylor, Ryan, Marshall, Andrew, Melissa, Julia and Halle; dearly beloved daughter of Julia and Stanley Nuskewicz; beloved sister of Ralph, Theresa and Martha; dearest aunt and great-aunt; and cherished friend of Hilda Hearst Kelley and Vincent Hearst (deceased), Robert and Lori Ride, Edward and Karen Day, Patty Kelleher and Cheryl Pelka.
After graduating (1948) from East High School, she fulfilled her lifelong goal of higher education attending Kent State University, where she also met her husband Stanley P. Clement. They married on October 25, 1952, at St. Casmir’s Church, Cleveland. With a calling for justice and equality for all, Julie worked in the 1970’s side by side with Father Charles Burns at Saint Aloysius to bring awareness to the social injustices occurring within the community. They formed a powerful team, meeting with civic and community leaders that in turn would help create a more tolerant and inclusive community on the east side of Cleveland. When she completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Arts & Sciences, Cum Laude, and a Master’s Degree of Arts in Psychology in the 1980’s from Cleveland State University, she embarked on a career of counseling Vietnam War veterans at several agencies throughout Cuyahoga County. She was a champion for peace over war, communication over silence, knowledge over ignorance and love over hate. She was a true pioneer, always working to make our world a better place and never settling until her voice was heard. Julie’s Christian beliefs (Forest Hills Church Presbyterian) led her to a purposeful life of love in action.
Julie’s love of historic architecture led to the preservation of an antebellum home in Lakeside Chautauqua, where she enjoyed cultural arts, education, and recreation. She was a blessed presence in the universe, loving, joyful, generous, and compassionate. A memorial celebration will be held at a future date.
