

KENT SMITH was called home to rest in his Lord’s arms on Monday December 23, 2019 after a long illness. He was born in Santa Rosa, California on August 12, 1946. On December 10, 1963 at age 17 he joined the United States Navy. He served as a “Tin Can Sailors” on the Lyman K Swenson DD-729 Destroyer and went to Vietnam and the Mediterranean during the Six-Day War. He returned home to California after four years of service to marry, and had two children. He went to College at both Marquette in Madison, WI and at the University of Florida obtaining a Bachelor’s in History. He was fascinated with history and especially loved the civil war era. After college he went to work for the Robbins Company as a Project Manager which took him to Seattle, WA, where he remarried and had a daughter. After years of working and traveling abroad with the company, in 1998 he married Chris after six years of romancing her. They were married for 21 wonderful years. In that same year, they moved to Cleveland, Ohio where he continued his career with the Robbins Company. While here in Ohio, he and his wife were able to join the 5th Ohio Civil War Reenactment Unit. They spent 10 years enjoying his hobby until his health would no longer allow. Kent is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Delores Smith and his daughter Andrea Delany. He is loved and will be missed by his family who include: a brother Charles H. Smith (Lynn) of Brookings, OR, his son Jason H. Smith Antelope, CA, his daughter Meegan Crossan (Justin) of Shelton, WA, his step-children Jacqueline Shemwell of Melissa, TX and Anthony(Tony) Burns (Jesse) of Seattle, WA, one niece, eight grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Visitation will be on SATURDAY December 28, 2019 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM with a service at 3:30 PM. at the DiCICCO & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 5975 MAYFIELD RD. MAYFIELD HTS, OH 44124.
