On April 29, 1930, a warm day in Cleveland, Robert Christy was born to Elvira and Biaggio Rossilli. True to the meaning of his name, he was a religious man, full of faith and love. To know him, was to love him.
He was a business man, a military man, but most important, a proud family man. Being married to Lee, he had the utmost devotion to her, his wife, his soulmate, his one true love, whom he adored wholeheartedly. This kind of love comes once in a lifetime, and it was visible when they were together. They raised four amazing children. Then, along came seven grandchildren, whom he beemed about. All just as important, all so loved, all so proud of. He always had a smile on his face, a comfort in his voice, a contagious laugh, a warmth in his hands to greet you, and a heartfelt goodbye, in hopes to see you again.
Being a humble man, he always made everyone feel special and important. And he was resilient. When there was loss of old cherished friends, new friends found their way to him, and filled his life anew.
He was a sharer. He shared his heart to love, his ears to listen, his lips to say words of encouragement, his arms to embrace, and his mind, to think of how he could make someone else feel more special. If he was here today, and asked if he had one regret, he would say….my regret would be having to leave all of you.
We won’t say good-bye. We say, until we meet again.
