

ROGER LOUIS VICTOR DiBENEDICT age 92, passed away peacefully on Saturday March 4, 2017 at his home in Mesquite, Nevada. Roger grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and graduated from Collinwood High School in 1943. He was a WWII US Navy Veteran. A lifetime musician, Roger was inducted into the National Cleveland Style Polka Hall of Fame in 1996. As a guitarist and banjoist, he was a member of several bands and orchestras including Art Perko, Kenny Bass, toured with Polka King Frank Yankovic, and appeared regularly on Polka Varieties. During his music career, he taught guitar at Sodja's Music on East 185th St. in Cleveland. He was a double bassist for the Orchestra of Southern Utah. He played bass for the Sunset Trail Fiddlers in Utah, and toured Wyoming dude ranches with the Prickly Pear Trio.
In addition, he worked for the state of Ohio, was an animal lover, a member of the Western Reserve Historical Society, and loved riding their horses alongside his wife, Patti. A devout Catholic, Roger was instrumental in the establishment of a parish in Southern Utah.
Roger is the son of Benjamin and Rosa (nee Primavera) DiBenedict, and brother of Jeanne Frank, Albert, and Norma Bocian, all deceased. Roger is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia DiBenedict (nee Timko), his daughters Linda Apicella (Peter) and Debra Pomeroy (Robert), grandchildren Nicole (Ralph) Phillips, Nina (Dave) Phillips, Jacob (Lara) Waldenmaier, David (Crystal) Waldenmaier, John (Stacy) Sustar, Kimberly Lawson, Nicholas Lawson, and great grandchildren Monica, Taylor, Brett, Domenic, Sylvia, Olivia, Chandlar, Suzanna, Rocky, and Joshua, and many nieces and nephews.
