Thelma M. Barry

THELMA M. BARRY (nee Astourian) age 86, passed away September 2, 2023. Beloved wife of the late Robert.; dearest mother of Ross (Elizabeth) and Bart (Shannon); devoted grandmother of Stephanie Blake (Shawn), Benjamin, Zachary and Samuel; aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.Preceded in death by her brothers Sidney, Gerald, and Martin and her parents Charles and Louise (nee Agajanian).

Thelma was a 1955 graduate of Western High School in Detroit. She enjoyed a professional career in the insurance industry before moving to Cleveland upon her marriage to Robert Barry with whom she shared forty-eight wonderful years together. While in Cleveland Thelma, along with her husband owned and managed Barry’s Hallmark Shop in Solon for twelve years. An active member in the Armenian community in both Detroit and Cleveland, Thelma sang or directed in the choir where she was often featured as a soloist. Cooking and baking traditional Armenian foods and spending time with her family also brought her great joy.

Funeral Services 10:00 am Thursday September 7 at St. Gregory of Narek Armenian Apostolic Church, 678 Richmond Rd. Richmond Hts. OH 44143 (Please Meet at Church). Interment Aurora City Cemetery.
