My heart breaks to hear the news of the recent passing of my former music teacher Mr. Avron Smolensky, from Howard Drive Elementary school who taught me piano lessons for a very short while. Mr. Smolensky is the most wonderful and inspiring person whom I will Always cherish having you as my music teacher and the memory of being one of your students. Always been a great pleasure and great honor to hear his authentic music and wonderful piano playing. I will Never forget his passion for music. I will definitely miss having a happy holiday and happy birthday greetings from him every year. My family and I, love and miss you dearly and we Always think of you for Every Jewish holiday and thinking of you on the day of your birthday on July 6th!! ✡️🕯️🙏🏼☮️🤍😭😥🥺😔

I was a student in his music class many years ago. He was wonderful, inspiring and very kind. Rest in peace.

I have known Avron for about 50 years. We were buddies for several years while I was a music student at UM. I think he was the purest soul that I had ever meet. He touched so many lives. - Lisa Werner

We  are so saddened to hear of Mr.  Smolenski’s  passing. He was a wonderful man and a fabulous music teacher to all my children. He will be missed.

Mr. Smolensky was my elementary school music teacher. I have so many fond memories of classes with him, and learning how to play the recorder and sing. He had such a positive impact on so many people, and I’m lucky to that I was one of them! My condolences to his family.

Howard Drive music classes with Mr. Smolensky are a core memory for me. He taught us the joy of communal singing and exposed us to an almost comically wide and eclectic array of songs, styles and genres. We all looked forward to his entrance in our classroom with his keyboard on wheels in tow. I am thankful for having known him and learned from him.

Very sad loss.   He was a supreme mensch.   
First met him at Univ. of Miami and we were Hebrew school teachers at Temple Israel
Of Miramar back the 1970’s.    We stayed connected all these years and he was such a fine gentleman.   His musical talents were terrific and his teaching skills were unparalleled.    He must have tutored thousands of students for their Bar & Bat Mitzvahs over the years at many South Dade synagogues.    His memory will always be a blessing.  RIP dear friend - you will be missed.

Avron taught music at Howard Drive Elementary before me and helped me acclimate when I arrived and began teaching music there. The kids always remembered him fondly. I’ll always remember his sweet soul and his lovely Goldberg Variations which he performed for a couple of other HDE teachers and me nearby the school one afternoon. A special person. He will be missed.

Avron was my adult bat mitzvah teacher at Temple Zion, as well as choir director . We spent many a shabbat listening to him chant Torah  there and at Bet Shira
