Barbara Rose Gladsden Schindler, 87, passed away on June 11, 2017. A Philadelphia transplant to Miami, she was immersed in Miami arts, business and politics for more than 40 years. Barbara sang with the Miami Opera Guild, taking the stage with Sutherland, Pavarotti, and Domingo. She served as an elected Dade County Democratic Party Committeewoman and Treasurer. She was a real estate agent, talent agent, community organizer, professional campaign manager, and aide to Sen. William “Bill” Lehman. Barbara loved travel and adventure, visiting over 65 countries, always with a camera in hand. Her photos won numerous awards. She is survived by her children, Lawrence Gladsden, Stuart Gladsden (Olga), and Joy Bartmon, three grandchildren, Meredith, Amanda, and Charles, step-grandchild Chris Gayol, and two step-great grandchildren, Kylie and Mason.
The funeral service is at Mt. Nebo, 5900 SW 77th Avenue, Miami, on Tuesday June 13, 2017 at 2:30 p.m. A reception will follow at Grove Isle in Coconut Grove. Donations in her memory are requested to be made to The Lighthouse for the Blind.
