With profound love and deep sadness, we announce the passing of Beverly Freedman, who passed peacefully, surrounded by family. She was the heart of the tribe, a consistent source of joy and optimism, and able to see the “blue skies” smiling wherever she went.
Beverly shared an extraordinary 70-year marriage with her devoted husband and partner, David Freedman. Their love was a living example of commitment, joy, and shared purpose. After David’s retirement, the two spent nearly 20 years volunteering in developing nations. David helped local bakers, while Beverly dedicated herself to children in need. She worked with blind children in one country, comforted terminally ill in another, and brought her immeasurable care and compassion to orphanages and schools around the world. She left behind a trail of love wherever she went.
Beverly was the proud and loving mother of three children: Donald (who predeceased her in 2004), Daniel, and Judith. She was adored by her five grandchildren: Rebecca (Paul), Ty, Jessica, Rylin (Brad), and Rachy, and was a joyful presence in the lives of her six great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Cullen, Austyn, Bohdi, Kaia, and Cole. Supportive mother-in-law to Linda and Steve.
But Beverly’s family extended far beyond blood. Bridge partners, tennis captains, swim pals, and hungry neighbors all shared in her light. Beverly’s generosity was boundless, whether it be offering her backyard for weddings, saving local libraries from closing, directing community productions, or becoming the number one fundraiser for all of Florida for the Alyn Hospitals. She put her heart, soul, and smile into everything she did. Just three days prior to her passing, she shared a delicious Rosh Hashanah dinner with her friends and family.
Her strength, spirit, and compassion shaped the lives of everyone who knew her. Beverly Freedman leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and grace that will continue to inspire generations to come.
