Edward Michael Weitz

*April 7, 1946 - October 27, 2024*

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward Michael Weitz, a devoted father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, who left us on October 27, 2024 at the age of 78.

Born on April 7, 1946, in Providence, Rhode Island, Edward moved to Miami when he was 10, where he fell in love with the ocean and the sunshine.

Edward was preceded in death by his father, William Weitz, and his mother, Anna (Cohen) Weitz. He is survived by his sisters, Sandra Lynn and Susan Weitz. He is also survived by his beloved ex-wife of 35 years, Linda Weitz, their two children H Jordan Weitz (wife Robin) and Jamie Forrest (husband Matthew), and grandchildren Maya, Aliya, Isaac, and Johanna. He also leaves behind his loving ex-wife, Rosa Santiago, and her children Lauren and Jessie.

Edward attended the University of Miami, leaving to serve our country during the Vietnam era, retiring honorably as a Sergeant.

As part of the family business, Drapery Service, and later as an entrepreneur, Edward specialized in hotel supply - providing high-quality bedspreads and linens to clients in the United States, the Caribbean, South and Central America. Edward took great pride in his work and his passion for creating beautiful spaces was only matched by his love for his family. Edward’s ability to bring joy and laughter into the lives of those around him will be dearly missed.

A celebration of Edward's life will be held at 9:30am on Wednesday, October 30th, 2024 at Lakeside Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 10301 NW 25th Street, Miami, FL 33172. As we bid farewell to Edward, we held tight to the memories, laughter and love he shared with us. He will be remembered as a man who brightened our lives. Rest in peace, Edward. We love you.
