Born on July 9, 1930, in New York, NY, Elliot lived a long, meaningful life defined by love, strength, and a deep devotion to his family. He was a man with a big personality and a great sense of humor. All who knew him have a story to share about him, most often about his tenacity and his love for his family.
He was the devoted husband of 67 years to Marilyn, his beloved bride, who preceded him in death two and a half years ago. Together, they built a home grounded in love, values, and togetherness.
Elliot’s family was the most important thing in his life. If you were in his family, you were close with him. He was the loving father of Alan Leitner (Sandi Leitner) and Karen Lasky (Leigh Lasky). Known lovingly as “Papa,” he was the proud grandfather of Jason Leitner, Adam Leitner (Sara Leitner), Matt Lasky (Sasha Lasky), Jamie Hirsch (Zach Hirsch) and Brad Leitner (Courtney Leitner). He was also a cherished great-grandfather to Theo Hirsch and Olivia Leitner. His cherished brother Howard Leitner (Linda Leitner) survives him, along with his loving nieces and nephews Susan Leitner (Dan Moskovitz), Robert Leitner (Jana Leitner), as well as his grand nieces and nephews Josie Moskovitz, Logan Moskovitz, Zoe Leitner, Maci Leitner and Jackson Leitner. All will dearly miss their close and enduring bond.
Elliot built a respected career as an insurance executive, and continued working as an expert witness in that field well into his retirement. His dedication to his work reflected the same commitment and care that defined his life.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Elliot’s memory may be made to the Jewish National Fund or the charity of your choice. Elliot will be honored in a private ceremony surrounded by close family.
