In 1929, Jerry was born to Ida and Hyman Enerfeld in New York and raised on South Beach, Florida. Jerry pursued his calling in optometry by attending college in Memphis, Tennessee and later proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as an optometrist, caring for the vision of servicemen. A dedicated optometrist for over 50 years, Jerry found great purpose in his work. His passion for helping people see clearly extended far beyond his retirement; he continued to serve his patients, friends, and family with care and kindness well into his later years. His patients often became friends, and his professional life was a reflection of his deep commitment to others.
Jerry lived a life full of love, laughter, and dedication. He was the proud husband of Beverly Enerfeld, the love of his life, whom he adored every day of their 73 years together. His deep love for Beverly was matched only by the love he had for his three daughters, Elaine, Mimi, and Shari, who brought him immense pride and joy, and their husbands, Bill, Mark, and Dean, all of whom he loved as sons.
He was a grandfather to seven and a great-grandfather to ten, and each of them knew the warmth of his smile, the gentleness of his heart, and the silliness of his jokes. His joyful legacy lives on through all of them.
Jerry had a gift for making people laugh through his lighthearted humor and his joy was truly infectious.
A man of many talents and hobbies, Gerald loved to bowl and was an accomplished artist. His drawings captured his gentle spirit. Whether he was behind a bowling lane or sketching on a pad, he brought creativity into everything he did.
Jerry’s life was marked by happiness, generosity, and devotion to family. He always had a smile to share and a joke to lighten the moment. He brought comfort, wisdom, and kindness to everyone who knew him.
Poppy, you will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by your family and friends. May your memory be a blessing. We love you more!!
