

Jacquelyn ("Jackie") Tawil Wald, 78, passed away on May 26, 2025, after battling renal cell carcinoma for more than seven years. She was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania to the late Rose and Leo Tawil. Jackie spent the first few years of her life in Scranton and later moved to Tampa, Florida with her parents and siblings. She ultimately moved to Miami where she graduated from the University of Miami, and met and married the love of her life, Earl.
Jackie was a beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, grandmother, friend, and a cherished educator. She taught preschool at Temple Beth Am for more than twenty years, inspiring countless students and impacting their lives. She was loving, kind, and found the most joy in spending time with her family and friends.
Jackie is survived by her husband, Earl, her daughters, Shari Wald Garrett and Lauren Wald Lomnitzer (Daniel), and her grandchildren, Alicia Garrett and Dylan Lomnitzer. She is also survived by her siblings, Esther Weisman, Francyn Berrin, and Dr. Robert Tawil. She is preceded in death by her brother Dr. Albert Tawil, her sister-in-law, Judith Tawil, and her brother-in-law, Jay Weisman.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Temple Beth Am, 5950 N. Kendall Drive, Pinecrest, Florida 33156. Burial will follow at Mt. Nebo (Kendall), 5900 SW 77th Avenue, Miami, Florida 33143.
The family requests that those individuals wishing to make memorial contributions donate to the Baptist Health Foundation (specifically, the Miami Cancer Institute).
