

Michael Karaban passed away on February 9, 2025 in Miami Beach. He was 78 years old. Michael was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 40 years, Barbara née Rosenfeld, who passed away in 2019. Michael and Barbara moved to South Beach in 2006 from Cherry Hill, NJ. He is survived by their son Joshua.
Michael graduated from James Madison High School in Brooklyn, NY. He put himself through college and graduate school, and earned his BBA and MBA degrees from Bernard M. Baruch College, City University of New York. While he was an undergraduate and attending college at night, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and served as a Military Policeman.
A self-made man, Michael had a successful business career. He retired as Senior Vice President, Chief Marketing Officer from J&J Snack Foods Corp. in 2007, after 17 years with the company. He previously held marketing management leadership positions with several other well known consumer goods companies including Kraft Foods and General Foods Corp. He was an exceptional business leader and a motivating public speaker, often speaking at company and industry conferences. After retirement, he was retained by law firms and companies as an expert witness in litigation proceedings regarding marketing and intellectual properties.
Michael is a former member of the Rutgers University School of Business Executive Advisory Board in Camden, NJ, where he was also a guest professor for various marketing subjects. He was a former board member of the Philadelphia Variety Club - The Childrens' Charity. He is a member of the Founders at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, FL. Michael will be remembered as a person with a keen intellect and sense of humor. He was a dedicated family man and was a lifelong animal lover. Interment will be at Lakeside Memorial Park, Miami, FL.
