Lionel “Bud” Barnet passed away on February 19, 2025. He was born in a taxi cab in Bronx, New York on November 29, 1931. A graduate of Bronx Science and City College in New York, after graduating ROTC, he entered the Army and served as a Lieutenant in Korea. Married to Janis Barnet on August 28, 1960 and celebrated 61 years together just before she passed in late 2022. Lionel is survived by his beloved children, daughter Karen Barnet Parker, son Marc Steven Barnet, and grandson Eric Lee Backer, along with his son-in-law Randy Parker and granddaughter-in-law Olivia Backer, and lived to meet his great granddaughter Mina Jane Backer. A graduate of UM Law and well respected Attorney in South Florida for 50 years, Lionel was a Drill Instructor, a Boy Scout Leader, an avid tennis player, adjunct professor and loved a good cigar poolside. He was a quiet, kind and gentle man and bestowed generosity on everyone he touched. Services will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Cabellaro Rivero Woodlawn South Funeral Home located at 11655 S. W. 117 Avenue, Miami, Florida 33186
