Dr. Morton M. Reiss

Dr. Reiss was a long time resident of North Miami Beach and Aventura. He opened his dental practice in 1954 and continued to practice until he retired in the late 1990s. He was an active member of Beth Torah Congregation, coached North Dade Optimist Baseball, and taught numerous courses at Lindsey-Hopkins Technical Education Center for their Dental Assistant’s program. He was a veteran of World War II (Army) and an officer in the Korean War (Navy). An avid golfer, he was always ready with advice and instruction for anyone who would ask. Dr. Reiss was well respected in the dental community and adored by many. He was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was predeceased by his first wife, Emily Dorfman Reiss-z”l, and second wife, Lily Finvarb Reiss-z”l.

He is survived by his children, Erica Reiss Cantor (Eugene), Michael Reiss (Denise) and Dr. Daniel Reiss; step-children, Richard (Helen) Finvarb, Salomon (Marlene Haime-z”l) Finvarb, and Deanne (Johnny-z”l) Finvarb Fishman; grandchildren, Emily and Michael Cantor and Linsey, Brett and Kimberly Levine; step-grandchildren, Robert (Rochelle) Finvarb, Ronald (Laura) Finvarb, Morris (Nicole) Finvarb, Eric (Dr. Keryn) Fishman, Vanessa (Larry) Abromowitz, Gregory (Cilia) Fishman, Michelle (Isaac) Possin, and Jessica (Kadir) Marrero; and 18 step-great children.

Funeral services will be held this Monday, June 17, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Riverside-Gordon Aventura, 20955 Biscayne Blvd., Aventura, FL 33180 (305) 935-3939. Burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Park, 10301 N.W. 25 Street, Miami, FL, (305) 592-0690.
