Robin Murray Bosco
Robin Murray Bosco, award-winning architect, devoted son and brother, loving husband, cherished father and grandfather, our Robbie, passed away April 15, 2025, in the same way he lived his life, with the utmost courage and dignity.
Son to Salvatore and Dorothy Bosco; Brother to Karen Shurley (Fletcher), Charles Bosco (Joana) and Toni Garcia (Jose); Husband to Patricia Raphun-Bosco; Father to Daniel Bosco, Justine Chichester (John) and Nicholas Bosco (Skyla); Grandfather to Samantha Bosco.
Robin Bosco was born on September 12, 1946, in Pittsburgh, PA. The family moved to South Florida where Robin attended and graduated from Palmetto Senior High School. Robin studied Architecture at the University of Florida and received his Bachelor of Architecture from UF in 1969. While at the University of Florida, Robin was awarded design opportunities to study Urban Planning in San Juan, Puerto Rico at the Instituto de Cultura (1967) and Urban Planning in Florence, Italy with Professori Leonardi Ricci at the Instituto di Urbanistica (1968). Robin’s studies continued throughout his exceptional professional career, bringing him to Harvard University Graduate School of Design in 1993, 1994 and 1995, where he studied retail complexes.
Robin opened his architectural practice in South Florida, beginning with a partnership and then opening his own firm, Robin Bosco Architects and Planners, Inc. in Coconut Grove, Florida. Robin’s firm became one of the premiere architecture offices in Florida and throughout the world for over 50 plus years, known for iconic retail centers such as the award-winning Dadeland Station in Miami, Florida; Fifth and Alton Retail Center in Miami Beach, Florida; Falabella Power Center in Santiago, Chile, among hundreds of other residential and commercial projects throughout the United States, including Monty’s in Coconut Grove and Key West, and the Federal Express building in downtown Miami.
Robin shared his expertise and knowledge with others, volunteering his time for many years on the City of Miami Urban Design Review Board, where he reviewed upcoming projects for the City of Miami and gave his advice and counsel on the developments.
Robin was known for his integrity, as his father was before him. Robin’s firm was known to produce one of the best sets of architectural plans in the County. His long, tenured staff referred to him as fair, principled, and deeply professional. “The best mentor one could ever ask for. He led with strength and kindness and always made you feel supported.”
As for the man, Robin loved his Architecture. He ate, slept and dreamt of it. He loved his family immensely. Drop by on a Sunday and you might smell garlic cooking, opera playing, the cappuccino maker going and a glass of white wine on the counter. He loved flying, diving, his sailboat, traveling the world, his Porsches, was always in search of a new recipe, and loved his wife, his children and his puppies dearly.
How very difficult it is to say goodbye to this very special person, who has shown us the way to be strong in the face of adversity, which he encountered every day. The world is truly a strange place now without Robbie in it.
Robin Bosco’s life will be honored in a private Celebration of Life ceremony held for close family and loved ones, to reflect and honor the beautiful memories we shared, the laughter that filled the room when he was near and the love that remains in our hearts for Robbie.
To honor Robin’s life and legacy, the family invites those who wish to contribute, to consider a donation to either the American Diabetes Association or the Humane Society of Greater Miami in Robin Bosco’s name.
