
Benjamin (Ben) Connor Roberts III of Middleburg, Florida, died December 11, 2014 as the result of an accident at his home. Ben was born December 17, 1945, in New York City. He was a United States Marine Sergeant and served two tours of duty in Vietnam in the DaNang region. After his military service, he earned two separate academic degrees at Florida College. A lifelong faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he reached out with generosity and warmth to his community. He is preceded in death by his mother, Gilda Barker Roberts, and his father, Benjamin Connor Roberts Jr. A longterm career as a yardmaster at CSX Railroad, was followed by ownership of a successful landscaping maintenance company. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; a daughter, Leia Christine (Reed) Beaubouef of Atlantic Beach, Florida, and grandsons Devlin Cole and Jack Conner Beaubouef; a son, Benjamin Todd Roberts and grandson Dallas of Jacksonville, Florida; step-sons Terry (Andrea) Sigmon, and grandchildren Alec, Nathan, Allison, Shelley, Abigail and Ian; and Joshua (Tracy) Sigmon, and grandchildren Eva, Ian, Bella and Lily; a sister Ann Chesser; and brothers Dale and Daniel Roberts. Ben enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, traveling, and helping others. He leaves a community of friends and family bereft at his passing. Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Middleburg, with viewing at 10 am & services at 11 am on Tuesday, December 16, 2014.
