

Carl Cox Whitt III, 64, passed away on August 1, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was born in Fishkill, New York and served his country in the US Navy. He then went on to a career serving his community as a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office where he retired on July 4, 2025.
He earned many honors during his military career: Rescue Swimmer, Aviation Warfare Specialist, Naval Air Crewman, Instructor. Carl received the National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (twice), Battle "E" Award (twice), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; Meritorious Unit Commendation (twice), Kuwait Liberation Medal, served in Afghanistan and Iraq. Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron (Light) 34 (HSL-34) Green Checkers, H-S 7 NAS Jacksonville Florida.
Carl is survived by his loving wife, Regina; devoted children: Olivia Whitt, Danielle Lawley and Lucian Derrick Lawley; mother, Fern Sunday; father, Carl C Whitt Jr; brother, Patrick Whitt; a host of extended family and friends.
Funeral Services will be held 11 AM, Thursday, August 7, 2025 at Westside Baptist Church, 7775 Herlong Road, Jacksonville, FL with visitation held 1 hour prior to service. Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and the honor guard will provide honors concluding the services.
