Charles Edward Hale, a devoted father, proud Marine, and faithful servant to his family and country, entered eternal rest on January 14, 2026. He was born on July 17, 1950, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to the late Garlaud Hale and Mary Hale, who preceded him in death.
Charles honorably served his nation in the United States Marine Corps, enlisting in 1969 during a time of great national challenge. His military service was marked by courage, discipline, and steadfast commitment to his fellow Marines. In recognition of his service during the Vietnam War, he was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal.
Among his most distinguished honors was the Combat Action Ribbon, an award presented to Marines who actively participated in ground or surface combat. This decoration signifies not only presence in a combat zone, but direct engagement with enemy forces under hostile fire—reflecting exceptional bravery, resolve, and devotion to duty.
Beyond his military accomplishments, Charles lived a life rooted in family and service. He carried the values of the Marine Corps—honor, courage, and commitment—into his everyday life, guiding his actions as a father and as a man. His strength was quiet, his loyalty unwavering, and his love for family enduring.
Charles is survived by his beloved daughter, Stephanie Hale, who was the pride of his life. His legacy lives on through her, and through the example he set as a man who answered the call of duty and placed the well-being of others above himself.
