

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman, taking care of Navy and Marine Corps Personnel for 20 years. After retiring from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer, Danny taught medical classes to vocational students and later taught science at Wilkinson Junior High School. Danny was a natural educator and had a special way of connecting with young people.
Danny was an active member of American Legion Post 250 in Middleburg, Florida, where he was known as “Doc.” Through his involvement with Post 250 American Legion Riders, he combined his love of motorcycles with his passion for service. Charity rides, cross-country rides with his wife, and weekly fun-runs with friends were things he enjoyed very much. A Past Riders Director and E-Board member, Danny proudly played Santa Claus each year at the Children’s Christmas party and conducted the Annual American Legion School Medals Program honoring exceptional students in the community. The American Legion, with its family-like friendships and camaraderie, was a favorite place for him to go.
He also served as a Reserve Deputy with the Sheriff's Offices of San Deigo County, California and Hamiliton County, Tennessee and as a Reserve Game Warden with the Florida State Game Commission (GFC/FWC).
Danny had a long list of hobbies. He loved motorcycling, teaching, working with animals, reading, camping, boating, fishing, leatherworking, woodworking, gunsmithing, locksmithing, traveling and watching tv with his wife, spending time with family and friends, and so much more.
Danny Tarrant was an intelligent, caring and humorous family man who enjoyed doing anything with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary Teresa "Teri" Tarrant; his son, Glenn Albert Tarrant; his daughter, MaryLou Rieves; his Son-in-law, Jeffery Rieves; his dog, Billy Joe; his three Grandferrets: Attila, Boudica, and Hannibal; and many nephews and nieces.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218, on February 26, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. (Please stage in Lane 1.)
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Legion Riders Post 250 “Friends in Need,” 2608 Black Creek Drive, Middleburg, Florida 32068.
Danny will be profoundly missed and forever remembered.
