Dorothy Jean Eggerling, lovingly known to family and friends as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, was born on January 17, 1937, in San Mateo, California. She entered eternal rest peacefully on March 27, 2026, leaving behind a legacy defined by strength, warmth, and unwavering love.
Dot dedicated much of her professional life to real estate in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she became known not only for her diligence and integrity, but for the fierce care and loyalty she showed every person she worked with. Helping others was never just her profession, it was her calling, her creed, and a reflection of her indomitable spirit.
At the heart of Dot’s life was her family, who inspired both her pride and her stubborn devotion. She treasured every milestone, every achievement, and every laugh shared with her grandchildren, surrounding them with love, guidance, and encouragement. As a wife, she was a steadfast partner and relentless caregiver to her beloved husband, Ted with whom she shared 46 years of marriage before his passing.
Dot found her greatest peace in the comforts of her home,a place brimming with warmth, quiet reflection, and the simple pleasures she held dear. She could often be found in her rocking chair, gazing out at the water, her beloved dogs close at hand, often sneaking them treats when no one was looking. Her love for animals matched her passion for a good book, and she spent countless contented hours immersed in stories that sparked her imagination.
She cherished life’s small rituals, from savoring a strong cup of black coffee in quiet moments of reflection to the familiar routines that gave her days structure and joy. These simple pleasures were as steadfast as she was, and they defined her rich, meaningful life.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Theodore Eggerling; her father, Matthew Condo; her mother, Hildegarde Condo; her brother, Matthew Condo; sister-in-law, Norma Condo; and foster sons, Christopher and Michael Kirkpatrick.
She is survived by her children: Thomas J. Eggerling; Jerald J. Eggerling (Ann Eggerling); Noel M. Elliott (Lewis Elliott); Kathleen J. Stoneberger; and Diane M. Eggerling. She also leaves behind 9 cherished grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Though Dorothy was a California girl at heart, she spent the last 20 years moving with the military surrounded by the love and care of her granddaughter, Shante’ Turnwall, her husband Brent Turnwall (USN Retired), and great-grandchildren Ryan, Joseph and Rebecca. Those years were filled with joy, laughter, and companionship, shared with family, friends, and of course, her beloved dogs.
Her life extended beyond bloodlines, drawing in many chosen family members whom she cared for fiercely. Lovingly known as Noni, she will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she touched. Her memory will live on in the love she gave so freely, the unwavering strength she modeled, and the beautiful moments she created for those she held dear.
