

Eleanor Maryann Riley, of Green Cove Springs, FL died peacefully on Monday, July 28, 2025, at her residence located in Penney Farms Retirement Community. Eleanor was 84. Eleanor was the beloved wife of 31 years to Donald H. Riley, who preceded her in death in 2012. She was previously married to the late Daniel W. Thomas, Sr., father of their two children Daniel, Jr. and Elizabeth.
Born in Abington Pennsylvania to the late Nicholas D. and Angelina J. (DiPietrontonio) Melair, Sr., Eleanor was the youngest daughter of a proud family of Italian immigrants. Eleanor was preceded in death by her five siblings, Angie Miller (Sol), Mary Morrison (Dan), Rose Ciavardelli (Fred), Leo Melair (Jean) and Nicholas Melair (Elaine).
Eleanor graduated from Cheltenham high school and Bucks County Community College, where she graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She spent 40 years working in the Healthcare field, retiring from Doylestown hospital in 2003 after 27 years of service as an LPN. Eleanor will be remembered for her sense of humor, her love of playing the wheel games at Carnivals and trips to the Casino to play the slot machines. She loved to cook, decorate her home, travel, sew, iron and craft beautiful floral wreaths, which she proudly displayed on her front door.
Eleanor is survived and will sadly be missed by her beloved children, son Daniel W. Thomas, Jr. and his wife Jaime, daughter Elizabeth M. Connors and her husband Michael. Eleanor was a proud Grandmom to her grandchildren, Erin Marie Rowe and her husband Michael Rowe, Ryan Thomas, Erik Thomas, his wife Bethanie Thomas, and the late James Everett Thomas.
She will be forever in our hearts.
The family is planning a private entombment at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Greenville, South Carolina
