

born in Maryland to the late John (Henny) and Mabel (Crowe) Horn. She is survived by her
devoted husband of 61 years, Jerry Lee Walden Sr.
Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and dear
friend to many. Joan was known for her generous heart, the love of sewing, quilting, crocheting,
traveling out west, and most of all a proud navy wife. She had a special gift for making everyone
feel welcome and loved. She was a lifetime member VFW Post 5968, where handmade items
were donated and sent to various organizations. She was a beloved employee at Whitey’s Fish
Camp for over 30 years. Spent countless hours helping the VFW, Hospice, VA Hospitals, and
Baptist Hospitals. She was an avid volunteer for the various Armed Forces Organizations.
She is survived by her children, Jerry L Walden Jr (Jeri-Lynn), Sean E Walden (Holly), Zola E Foret
(David); her grandchildren Jerry L Walden III (Teechee), Keri E Boehm (Charlie), Clayton L. Flowers, Ethan J Walden, John J Walden, Erik S Walden, Hailey M Foret (Roman); her greatgrandchildren Gage Walden, Eli Boehm, Raelynn Walden; and brother John H Horn Jr (Norma), and sister Terry E Niswonger, and special Aunt to Chuck Vavrek and Brian Wolf, and a special cousin to Graham Crowe and in addition to many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by sister-in-law Zola M Vavrek, and brother -in -law Sidney L Walden and spouse Mary-Alice.
The viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from between the hours of 5:00 pm-7:00pm. Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, April 24, 2025, at 10:30 am followed by the interment at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 12:30pm.
