Larry Griswold, 75, of Fleming Island, Florida, passed away on December 9, 2025. He was born on August 28, 1950, in Topeka, Kansas, and lived a life defined by devotion to his family, service to his country, and a deep love of the outdoors. He was a proud graduate of Lyndon High School, Class of 1968.
Larry was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Eunice and Harold Maike, and his sister, Nancy Frye.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Sybil Griswold, who was the love of his life; his son, Marty Griswold; daughter-in-law, Missy; and cherished granddaughter, Macy; his daughter, Anna Griswold, and her partner, Bradley Daniel; his sister, Debbie Wichern, and her husband, James, along with their children, Lindsey, Laura, and Lesley; and his niece, Wendy Griswold, and her husband, Dale Martin. Larry’s family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in each of them.
Larry proudly served his country for 30 years with the Florida Air National Guard. His sense of duty, integrity, and commitment defined both his military career and his personal life. Outside of service, Larry found his greatest joy on the open road and in nature. He loved riding motorcycles with his FL1-X family and spending time outdoors—boating, skiing, fishing, and relaxing at the beach. The sound of the waves, the open water, and the simple peace of being outside brought him comfort and happiness.
A committal service with military honors will be held on January 23, 2026, at Jacksonville National Cemetery. Guests are asked to arrive by 2:15 p.m. and enter through Lane 2. Interment will take place at 2:30 p.m. A celebration of life will follow at a later date.
