Martha Ann Klinikowski, age 78, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 23, 1946, in Wheeling, West Virginia, to Geraldine Graham and Thomas Carman, Martha’s life was one of service, faith, and unwavering love for her family, country, and community.
A proud graduate of Sheridan High School, Martha went on to honorably serve her country in the United States Navy for five years during the Vietnam War era. Her commitment to the nation continued for three decades as a dedicated civil servant with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS), where she served with distinction until her retirement.
Martha's life was deeply rooted in her Catholic faith. She was a devout member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Fleming Island, Florida, and actively involved in the Sacred Heart Council of Catholic Women. Her service extended beyond the church as she continued her support for military families through her role as Associate Secretary for the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 126.
She was the beloved wife of the late Barry Klinikowski, with whom she shared 44 years of marriage and a lifetime of love. Together, they raised two children and a bonus daughter whom she cherished dearly: David Klinikowski (Barbra), Brenda Klob (Jason), and Pia Lebeck Frederiksen (Lars). She was a loving grandmother to Eliza and Alanna Klob; Sofie, Katrine, and Jakob Lebeck Frederiksen; Katie, Megan, and Erica Martin.
Martha is also survived by her brother Tommy Carman and her sister Karen Harrison. She was preceded in death by her husband Barry, her mother Geraldine Graham, her birth father Thomas Carman, her stepfather Richard Hamm, and her sister Linda Neff.
Martha had a gift for giving. She expressed her love through her talents in sewing, baking, and crafting—especially as a passionate supporter of Angel Gowns, where she lovingly transformed donated wedding dresses into newborn bereavement gowns. She loved to travel, cheer on her beloved Ohio State Buckeyes, and bring joy to those around her.
Above all, Martha lived a life defined by service—to her nation, her family, her faith, and her community. Her kindness, strength, and grace touched all who knew her, and her legacy will live on in the hearts of many.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 7190 US-17, Fleming Island, FL 32003. Following the Mass, a committal service with military honors will be held from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4083 Lannie Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32218.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Martha’s memory to two causes close to her heart: Wounded Warrior Project, https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org/; and K9s For Warriors , https://donate.k9sforwarriors.org/.
Martha's devotion to her family, her faith, and her country will be remembered always, and she will be missed beyond measure.
