Steven Craig Jones, 66, of Middleburg, Florida, passed away on April 15, 2026. He was born July 27, 1959, in Alexandria, Louisiana to D'Wana Marie (Jones) and George Robert Jones in Alexandria, Louisiana in 1959. Steven was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and a proud military veteran of the United States Navy. Steven’s life was marked by devotion—to his family, to his faith, and to the values he held close in his love for God, community, and country. A natural people person, he connected easily with others and carried himself with steady warmth and sincere respect for those around him.
He found joy in the outdoors and took special pride in the things he cared for. As a bass fisherman, he cherished the thrill of the water and was proud of his fishing trophies. At home, he was equally proud of his yard, which often earned “Yard of the month,” reflecting the care and attention he brought to the life he built. Steven also loved sports, especially football, cheering on Florida State College and LSU. Time with family mattered most, and his grandchildren were his heart—particularly the happiness he found in watching his grandson play sports. He was also a true foodie who enjoyed going out to eat and sharing good meals and conversation. Steven worked at Academy Sports in the Fishing and Wildlife Department, a role that suited his love of the outdoors and his ease with people.
