

Terry Gene Tyrer, embarked on his eternal journey at 84 on January 16, 2026 surrounded by his loving family, having completed his final mission with remarkable courage and dignity. Born on December 28, 1941, in Austin, Minnesota, to Elvin and Norma Tyrer , Terry was destined to leave an indelible mark on the lives he touched, inspiring greatness through his actions. With a distinguished 23 year tenure in the United States Navy, he skillfully maintained aircraft and explored the world, exemplifying dedication and expertise. After retiring, Terry continued to serve with the Naval Acquisition Development Program (NADP), demonstrating his unwavering commitment to making a difference. When not serving his country, Terry devoted himself to his family with boundless love, humor, and countless carpentry projects, creating cherished memories that will endure. His family's foundation was built on his love, and his legendary fishing and camping trips were filled with laughter, and timeless humor. With passions that included bowling, his cherished 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air, and being a master of many talents, Terry's spirit was contagious, inspiring others to make a positive impact. He generously supported various veterans' organizations, the American Heart Association, and other charities, often behind the scenes, leaving a legacy of kindness. Terry leaves behind a family who loved him deeply and a multitude of lives he touched: Linda Lee Tyrer, his wife of 62 years, Timothy Tyrer (Jennifer), Christie Tyrer, Kimberly Groves (Robert), Roy Tyrer (Marette), Ethan Starling, Trenton Tyrer, Seirra Tyrer, Camron Groves, Reece Starling, and Jaxon Stewart. A Graveside Service with Full Military Honors will be held at 1:30pm on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Jacksonville National Cemetery, 4086 Lannie Road, Jacksonville, Florida 32218.
