

Tommy George Horton, 85, of Doctors Inlet, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026, at home surrounded by his family. Tommy was born on February 22, 1940, in Brunswick, Georgia to Tommy and Ruby Horton. He attended Piney Grove and graduated from Odum High School in 1958. He also attended Brewton-Parker Christian University. He was hard-working and dedicated and started employment with Chilton as a Representative sometime in 1979 in Dallas / Fort Worth, Texas. In 1985 he assumed the territory in Jacksonville, Florida for Chilton and continued as a Chilton Representative until 1997 when the company was assumed by Motor Information Systems. Throughout his tenure, he consistently ranked among the top producers nationwide and earned considerable respect from colleagues at both organizations. He continued as a Motor Representative until his retirement in 2021. Tommy was a devoted father and grandfather and spent a lot of his time playing the stock market and watching football, mainly the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Tommy is survived by his siblings Willa (Vern) Siemek and Rudy Horton; his children, Melanie (John) Eubanks and her children Chad, Ashley, and Caleb; Michael Horton and his daughter, Paige; Yvette Craig and her children Kaci, Kristi and Shane; Tommy (Kimberly) Horton and his children Shaw, Sidney and Luci; and Michelle (Chris) Coker and her children Damien, Kyra and Ewan, as well as 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Tommy Brinson Horton and Ruby Ogden Horton; his siblings Glinda Thornton, Linda Thornton, and Mallory Horton; and his daughter Michelle “Angel” Horton.
A celebration of life and services will be held at Little Creek Baptist Church in Jesup, Georgia on Saturday, February 28, 2026, starting at 10:00 a.m. A small reception for family will be held at Screven First Baptist Church in Screven, Georgia following the funeral.
