Prior to graduation from UH, he enlisted in the United States Navy. There, he met his wife, Loice, who was also serving in the Navy. They married three months later, and were soon stationed in Meridian, Mississippi.
During his 27 plus years of service to God and his country, Bill, and his family served in Tennessee, Mississippi, Hawaii, Japan, Cuba, Pensacola, Mayport, and Jacksonville, where he retired.
During his service, he received Good Conduct Medals, the National Defense Service Medal, and several others.
After his retirement in 1985, Bill worked in the private sector with Lockheed Martin, GE Harris Railway Technology, and Clay Transit.
Over the years, Bill stayed active in his churches, his children’s schools, and his communities, volunteering in bus ministries for children, shuttle services for senior adults, coaches in various youth athletic leagues, a participant in a bowling league, serving as deacon and/or usher at his churches, and concession stand manager, just to name a few.
Bill will always be known for his love and faithfulness to God and his family, his gentle Christ-like spirit, and his courage and perseverance to trust God in all circumstances.
He was an usher at First Baptist Church, Middleburg, where he has been a member for 36 years. He was a stellar example of a Godly husband, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed.
For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
