Ann Barnette Johnson, age 57 of Midland NC, passed away on Wednesday January 30, 2019. She was born on July 2, 1961 in Griffin, GA but raised in Charlotte, NC to the late Nancy Morris Barnette. In addition to her mother, she is proceeded in death by her stepfather, Al Keply.
Ann worked alongside her mother for several years at Baker Equipment Engineering Company and then helped build J&J Prewire Company with husband Barry Johnson all while building their own family having two daughters.
Ann is survived by daughters, Maegan Johnson and Morgan Johnson. Ann had one granddaughter who was her entire world, Riley Parks (BabyDolly). Ann is also survived by her older sister Jane Bailes, (husband Walter), and their daughter Nancy Johnson (husband Mat) great nephew Jack Brown. Ann’s younger sister Jean Linthicum and her two children Melissa and Matthew (wife Miranda) their son Sylas and daughter Autumn. She also was blessed enough to have a soul sister Monica Bayer and daughter Dustie Rose McDonald.
Ann was one of a kind. She was the most loving, giving, loyal, and selfless person. She never met a stranger and would do anything for anyone. The world was a better place with her in it. Her radiant smile brought sunshine and joy to so many lives. Her distinctive laugh was contagious. She loved the beach and loved to go fishing. Her love for plants and flowers showed, she was an avid gardener and was a member of the garden club for many years.
As BabyDolly said “She had a need for speed”. She loved to ride on motorcycles and cruise in her 1956 Nomad. But what she loved the most was her family and friends. She will be missed by all!
The celebration of life ceremony will be held, Saturday, February 9th at 1pm at McEwen-Mint Hill Chapel off of HWY 51. (7428 Mathews-Mint Hill Rd, Charlotte, NC 28227) Following with a “throw down”, as she would say, at Halligan’s Ale House at 12725 US-601, Midland, NC 28107.
