Arthur William Spencer

Born July 11, 1932 in Cowpens, South Carolina, Mr. Spencer was a son of the late Charles and Mamie Mabry Spencer. He retired from Carolina Foods after 37 years of service, and was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church.

Mr. Spencer was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Marie Spencer, and daughter, Sherry Carpenter Bunch.

Surviving are two sons, Jimmy Carpenter and wife, Pat, of Matthews, North Carolina, and Rusty Carpenter and wife, Amanda, of Mint Hill, North Carolina; a brother, Floyd Spencer of Gaffney, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Scott, Billy and Jeff Carpenter, Joya Bennett and Jonathan Carpenter; eight great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 9, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill, with a funeral service to immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park.
