

Bonnie was born on September 4, 1930, the only child of Port H. McLean and his wife, Fern Z. McLean. She grew up on the family farm on John Russell Road in Charlotte, North Carolina, later graduating from Newell High School, where she enjoyed playing basketball. In 1950, Bonnie married her husband, David E. Hoffman, to whom she was happily married for 67 years. While raising two sons, she worked for City National Bank and BB&T Bank before eventually retiring. In retirement, she and David enjoyed spending time at the beach and traveling to see the world, taking trips to Israel, Europe and Hawaii before settling down to help to raise her four grandchildren. She was a long-time member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, where her father was a lifetime deacon.
Bonnie was predeceased by both her parents. She is survived by her husband, David E. Hoffman; her sons, D. Michael Hoffman and his wife, Gail, Steven M. Hoffman and his wife, Jennifer; and her four grandchildren, Brandon M. Hoffman, Bryan D. Hoffman and his wife, Kayla, Brooke E. Hoffman, and Lauren A. McAnally, all of Charlotte, North Carolina.
A time to receive Bonnie’s friends and a service to celebrate her life will be held at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Charlotte, North Carolina, Wednesday, June 28, 2017. The visitation with friends will be at 10:00 am with the funeral service at 11:00 am. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Sharon Memorial Park
