Growing up, Clyde enjoyed playing basketball, which earned him the nickname "Clyde the Glide"; he had love for music and a beautiful voice which he put to good use in many a church choirs; and a passion for anything with an engine, which he turned in to a long career as a Master Technician and remained true until the day he died. Clyde enjoyed playing poker, fishing, bowling and couldn't resist a meal of steak and potatoes.
Any given day, you could see him driving around the town he loved in his big red truck with his best buddy, Sanford. Knowing that presentation matters, he always wore his shirt tucked in and was never caught without a comb in his pocket. Clyde was definitely a "do-it-yourself" type of person who took pride in his work. Building and creating things with his own hands was a sport for him. He loved the thrill of "wheelin' and dealin' " no matter how big or small an item was. All of this made him the go-to person for too many subjects to name for too many people to mention.
He was the type of person who was friendly to everyone and would bend over backward to help someone in need. It didn't matter who they were or what it was they needed, even if they needed the shirt off of his back. As he always said, "actions speak louder than words", and he definitely lived by that. His door was always open. He was truly one of a kind.
He is preceded in death by his father, Clyde William Combs, Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Anne Hedrick; his loving children, April (Brandon) Briggs, Kevin Combs, and Kimberly Combs; his step-children, Andrew (Nicolet) Hedrick, Rachel Hedrick, Brian Hedrick, and Justin Hedrick; his beloved grandson, Jackson Briggs; and his step-grandchildren, Riley Hedrick, Benjamin Hedrick, Ruth Ann Hedrick, Owen Hedrick and William Hedrick, whom he loved as his own. He is also survived by his mother, Kay Combs; his siblings, Maria Combs, Jackie Combs, and Anita Johnson; 6 nieces and nephews; and 8 great-nieces and nephews.
