Cynthia Lee "Cindy" Martin, age 53, of Matthews, North Carolina, formerly of Bluefield, West Virginia, passed away Thursday, April 20, 2017, after a long illness. Born January 16, 1964 in Houston, Texas, she was a daughter of Carolyn McConnell and the late James Lee Martin.
Raised in Welch, West Virginia, Cindy was a graduate of Mt. View High School and McDowell County Technical School, where she received her LPN License. She also attended Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, where she maintained a 4.0 GPA. Cindy worked at Welch Community Hospital, where her favorite position as a nurse was working in obstetrics. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Welch.
In addition to her mother, Carolyn, Cindy is survived by her sister, Melanie Etters and husband, Danny, of Charlotte; and two nieces, Erin and Emilee Etters.
Cindy’s love and compassion for all animals remained near and dear to her heart. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local humane society.
