Kenneth Ray Long

Kenneth Ray Long, age 70, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 14, 2013 in the Harris Hospice Unit of Novant Presbyterian after a seven year battle with cancer. Born in Russell County, KY on March 9, 1943, he was a son of the late Melvin H. Long and Lura Robertson Long. Mr. Long retired from Diversified Equipment and was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed painting.

A funeral to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00AM, Friday, October 18th at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 8947 Albemarle Road, with Rev. Jerry Woolery officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM, Thursday evening at Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Mr. Long is survived by his wife of twenty eight years, Dale Stone Long; five children, Mike Long, of Portland, OR, Greg Long and wife Melissa, of Portland, OR, Susan Caudle and husband Gary, of Monroe, NC, Clint Honeycutt and wife Mickey, Moore, SC; Wendy Ferguson and husband Jason, of Midland, NC; a brother, Gerald Long and wife Thelma, of Cincinnati, OH; two sisters, Theresa Engle and husband Donnie, of Amelia, OH, Pamela Chomyszak, of Cincinnati, OH and nine grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Long was preceded in death by a sister, Patti Webber.
