

She was born on June 11, 1930 in Charlotte, North Carolina, the daughter of the late Thomas Julian Allen and Francis Huggins Allen. Marceil graduated from Central High School in West Charlotte, and furthered her studies at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, North Carolina.
Marceil was an avid quilter who loved sharing her knowledge of quilting with others. She enjoyed being a member of the Swamp Fox Quilters Guild in Florence, South Carolina for many years. Marceil previously lived in McBee, South Carolina, where she enjoyed the peace and serenity of the area, as well as the wonderful local peachs and eating at Big's. Marceil loved attending church services at Oakhurst Baptist Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, as well as First Baptist Church of Pine Ridge, South Carolina.
The family would like to give special recognition and thanks to Shelia Fredericksen, Dot Kistler and Pat Thomley, who helped make it possible for Marceil to live out her last years at home. The family would also like to thank the many wonderful people of Hospice and Palliative Care, Charlotte Region.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, James Calhoun Hill, and is survived by her daughter, Joyce Hill, son-in-law, Jon Hill, daughter, Sandra Morgan, son-in-law, Alan Morgan, and grandsons, Jason Grubb and Christopher Grubb. Also surviving Marceil are her two great grandchildren, Brayden Grubb and Ella Grubb, and her beloved sister, Rebecca Gardner.
A funeral service to celebrate Marceil's life will be held 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road in Mint Hill. The Rev. Wayne Deffinger will officiate. Friends are cordially invited to a visitation and reception with the family following the service at the funeral home until 8:00 p.m. A committal service will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 5, in Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 3224 Liberty Hill Road in Hartsville, South Carolina.
