Marilyn Austin Deese

Mrs. Deese, age 88, of Concord, died Monday, January 15, 2018 at Avante. Born October 5, 1929 in Wingate, she was a daughter of the late Cleveland D. Austin and Lula Lucreta Austin. Mrs. Deese, for 12 years, drove a bus for Northside Academy and for 10 of those years also worked in the cafeteria. Then Mrs. Deese went to work for Wachovia where she retired after 10 years of service. She was a dedicated member of Green Memorial Baptist Church for over 60 years. Mrs. Deese was a Sunday School teacher and choir member. Through the years, she sang many solos for worship services, weddings and funerals.

The service to celebrate the Life of Marilyn Austin Deese will be held 11:00 AM Friday, January 19th at McEwen Funeral Service - Mint Hill Chapel with Reverend Scott Davis, officiating. Interment will follow in Sharon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.

Survivors include her son, Bart and daughter-in-law, Michelle; two grandchildren, Mikayla and Noah; sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Deese was preceded in death by her husband, Bartley, Sr.; and all twelve of her siblings.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pitts Baptist Church, Malawi Youth Mission Trip, 140 Pitts School Road NW, Concord, NC 28027.
