Max Phillip Daniels, III, of Mint Hill, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday evening, June 5, 2018, at Carolinas Health Care-Pineville. He was 72 years old. Born March 12, 1946, in Newland, North Carolina, he was a son of the late Max and Lucille Daniels.
Max attended elementary and high school in Newland, and graduated from West Mecklenburg High School in 1964, where he lettered in track. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1968 until 1972. Max worked as a dispatcher for various trucking companies in the Charlotte area. In his retirement, he enjoyed photography, golf and travel.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Nelda; one brother, Roy Daniels and his wife, Elizabeth; and five nephews and one niece.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 pm Saturday, June 9, at McEwen Funeral Service, Mint Hill Chapel, 7428 Matthews-Mint Hill Road, with his memorial service to immediately follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. The Rev. Tommy Hayes will officiate.
